Case Study
DeviceLock® controls USB in Christ's Hospital

Christ’s Hospital had been searching for a USB management tool for some time, and evaluated those that were on the market at the time. DeviceLock® was the most cost-effective of those evaluated. DeviceLock® has proved to be very flexible in the devices that can be permitted or denied access to a PC, and can be configured to allow generic devices, such a scientific data loggers without having to configure each PC individually. DeviceLock® is deployed as part of a system image and the configuration is managed through Active Directory Group Policies.

PortsLock Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AN EASY-TO-USE SECURITY SOLUTION THAT FULLY PROTECTS CORPORATE NETWORKS AGAINST ATTACKS FROM THE INSIDE!

SmartLine Inc has released a unique security solution on the market that enables Systems Administrators to set permissions on the TCP/IP connections exactly as they can for files and folders on NTFS partitions.

Preventing the introduction of inappropriate data is important when trying to protect and administer a company's computer network. Almost 80% of security breaches come from within a corporate network. Hence, it is imperative to control who has access to network resources inside the network. Windows NT/2000/XP and Windows Server 2003 have a lot of built-in access control features that should be used by Systems Administrators to designate user access to various areas. Unfortunately, standard access control solutions (including personal firewalls) do not allow the assignment of permissions for TCP/IP connections on a per user basis (as you could for files on NTFS). PortsLock allows you to solve all such security problems.

Another unique feature of PortsLock is its ability to audit a user's network activity on the local computer. Systems Administrators can log network activity that belongs to a certain user or user group.

PortsLock provides a mechanism of monitoring TCP/IP activity in real-time. With this feature, Systems Administrators can determine which process and user have an address open and what remote network addresses suspicious applications are accessing.

PortsLock significantly reduces the total cost of network management in enterprise environments by enabling IT personnel to designate user access to the Internet and LAN. It works together with all major firewalls, personal firewalls, and routers without any conflicts.

System requirements: PortsLock requires Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, 32 MB RAM, a hard drive with 2 MB of hard disk space.

PortsLock costs $50 (US) for a single-user license. Discounts are available for multi-user licenses and for Educational Institutions. A free, fully functional demo is available for download from http://www.portslock.com

About the Company: Established in 1996, SmartLine Inc has been developing products to help network administrators and systems integrators with their task of providing well-integrated and cost-effective network management solutions. SmartLine's many customers include Major Technology stakeholders, some of the largest US and international banks, telecommunications conglomerates, government networks and educational institutions.

In addition to PortsLock, SmartLine markets DeviceLock, a security solution that prevents unauthorized users access to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and FireWire devices; and DeviceLock Millennium Edition, the Windows 95/98/Me version of DeviceLock.
